Young Women’s Empowerment Kicks off!

Written by Geoff Knight, November 22nd, 2021
We had an AMAZING meet-up for Young Women’s Empowerment! This event presented such a loving, fun, educational day.

The day was blessed by keynote speaker Pillar Wilkins, the Assistant Principal at Renaissance School of the Arts, who spoke about how the power of loving oneself can lead to positivity and empowerment of others as well as personal success.

We are extremely grateful for the partnership with longtime friends, the New York Junior League, who joined us for the first time this year and kicked off their Personal Achievement and Leadership program (PAL). The program features a curriculum that builds on kids’s skills and will culminate in a career day for participants in the spring.

This fantastic gathering included over 130 participants, and featured activities aimed at building self-efficacy in students.

The two featured activities were:

A self-portrait highlighting what participants see for themselves in the future.

A love letter exercise where participants wrote love-letters to themselves.

The Young Women’s Empowerment project is an annual initiative aimed at providing resources to young women in preparation for their advanced schooling, their careers, or adulthood in general.

PS: Special thanks to IS 339’s ACE Photographers for being such a great part of the festivities!
